Laissez les bons temps rouler...

Happy Mardi Gras y'all. Just got back from a 4 day weekend to Louisiana, and I dragged Raul along with me. Sadly, Mardi Gras (cajun style) got rained out...or, I should say, it rained all day on Saturday and we made the executive decision not to go stand in the mud and be miserable.

However, good times were still had by all...here we are, dancing it up at Mulates.

Now I have to start really thinking about writing my thesis...sigh...I don't wanna.

"Yes, I just bought a tanith and suede jacket..."

Congrats to Belbin and Agosto...but does anyone else think the name "Tanith" sounds like some sort of suede or leather fabric???

In honor of Valentines Day...

Yes, that wonderful day that makes otherwise secure single people feel like crap!

Yep, even though I'm dating someone this V-day, I can't seem to shake the memories of yore...specifically, four years at SMC, walking past the chalk board and never seeing my name listed under "Flowers." Still bitter?

A little.

In any case, I think this book is way overdue. Although I have to say I'm a little mad this guy thought of it before me!

Good Financial Advice

Hmmmm...I think most Americans need a copy of this book...myself not excluded.

Leave it to SNL to come up with a simple way to get out of debt!

The Graduate School Sham

On the outside, my face is alert and attentive.

On the inside, my brain has its fingers in its ears and is yelling, "LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALAL!!!"

In the words of Phil Collins..."I don't care no more..."

How does anyone get through grad school and not lose their freaking mind??? I am so sick of thinking about all the crap I have to do, so sick of the clock ticking over my shoulder and what's worse...I don't even care about this crap anymore. I mean, I don't care beyond a surface level. If I didn't know that I'd regret it forever, I would drop out right now and get a freaking job. That's how fed up I am.

Anyway, I keep going back to Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird, which I bought for creative writing inspiration, but which is helping me get through my thesis as well. Particularly the chapters on "Perfectionism" and "Shitty first drafts".

All I really wanna do though is watch tv.
